UNSEEN
September 19-22, 2024 l Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS.
The proposal begins within the meeting and the collaborative work of three spaces: VF Art Projects (Luxembourg), ABRE Art Gallery (Argentina) and DIGALLERY (Spain), with the common goal of promoting the Ibero-American Art, and the interest on developing a crossroads and exchange of visions and experiences within the framework of UNSEEN.
The two multidisciplinary artists selected for this proposal come from same generation: Dionisio Gonzalez (1965, Spain) and Hugo Aveta (1965, Argentina), and both address thematic productions linked to architecture, the ways in which people inhabit spaces, how the spaces carry with them time, memory and meaning, the relationships people establish with the social and natural environment, among others. The two artists notably establish meeting points in their reflections and also in certain technical procedures. They share a fascination with creating the fiction of space, the game between reality and imagination, the idea of simulation. In their operations they build models that they then photograph.
In the case of Aveta, its models are in some cases reconstructions of spaces that no longer exist but that had a political and tragic history. By reconstructing them, Aveta evokes the memory of their ghosts and horrors of it, or presents with the ruins and vestiges of a theater with its empty stage in: The Chamber of Wonders: “Theatre as a microcosm in which the macrocosm is sifted, a mechanism like the classic theatrus mundi, to see, remember by observing and understand reality.”
In the case of Dionisio Gonzalez, the artist works on real territories, almost always in conflict, “a designer's work with a more purposeful than substitutive spirit,” he points out. The artist's thoughts and research are influenced by philosophers such as Ludwig Wittgenstein. He developed his work from isolation and solitude with the purpose of study and observation. In the series: “Wittgenstein's Aviary” Dionisio González reflects on flight and voluntary exile. Escape can involve leaving a social, domestic or relational model, or only out of desire or need. The prototypes developed by the artist and inserted in solitary spaces, propose a tiny habitat conducive to that state of silence, contemplation and reflection.
The works selected for UNSEEN establish a dialogue between the two artists, highlighting the encounters in their practices while highlighting the conceptual and aesthetic singularity of their productions.

About VF ART PROJECTS + DIGALLERY + ABRE Galería de Arte
VF ART PROJECTS
VF ART PROJECTS is an art production company with more than 15 years experience, based in Luxembourg and acting in different countries, that designs, directs and organizes artistic and cultural projects such as exhibitions, installations, performances or conferences, in the field of the museums or cultural centers, public spaces or galleries, hand in hand with important artists and directors. The development of the Ibero-American art in all its expressions is promoted, fostering the relationship between artists and entities, in order to support national and international exchanging and cultural diversity.
DIGALLERY
From the Andalusian capital, Sevilla, DI Gallery works immersed in the most current contemporary art, with the aim of promoting Spanish artists, supporting emerging artists with international projection as well. Because of its experience and professionalism some big names as Dionisio Gonzales are within their represented artists. Di Gallery is also known by the management of cultural projects of social and private significance, including projects in public spaces.
ABRE
The gallery specializes in the diffusion of contemporary art and in the formation of new audiences.
The curatorial line proposes a careful selection of artists in which their work manifest conceptual density, as aesthetic and poetic value in a diversity of formal languages. They accompany the positioning and dissemination of their works, projects and publications through the programming and production of exhibitions, participation in fairs and the management of acquisitions of public and private collections.
In 2023 they inaugurate ALMACEN ABRE, a fusion of the gallery with the interior design studio BAP. Gallery artists and guests are exhibited and marketed in this new space. And alliance with BECKEN properties is also part of this project, which is structured as a proposal between art, interior design and real state to explore the effects of the first on the second, thus generating a synergistic impulse that not only gives added value, but also contributes to the circulation and commercialization of works art.
